Ringed rockclinger and wooly rockjumpers

Here is ringed rockclinger attacking pair of wooly rockjumpers on almost vertical rock in mountains 120 millions years in the future.
Rockclinger is octodactylopod, non tetrapod land vertebrate. It evolved from spiderfishes, what evolved from Melanochromis (described it process longer under shovelnose drawing). Octodactylopods are fully terrestrial and often warm-blooded animals They have no lungs like terapods, but strange organ, similar to the very complex labyrinth of Anabantoidei fishes. It is also the place where their eggs develop, because land octodactylopodes are still mouthbrooders like their ancestors long ago in Malawi lake. And like their water ancestors they still chew food by pharyngeal jaws. Rockclingers are mountain predators. With their eight clawed legs, they can run fast on almost smooth walls and attack other animals, fast like spiders.

Wooly rockjumpers are avipods. These big and popular group of mammals evolved from shrew just after great extinction in antropocen. Avipods are very similar in shape of their body to dinosaurs (but are of course mammals), and also like them, they are very good runners. Most of avipod species are opportunistic feeders, but some are specialized in herbivorous or predatory diet. Wooly rockjumper is mountain opportunistic species. Sometimes they can graze together with mountain ruminants, sometimes they eat carcass, stealing mountain bird eggs, or hunting small animals. But ringed rockclinger can hunt them, if they would not run fast enough.

Inspiration for this drawing was video of snow leopard hunting animal similar to ibex, and both animals were running fast down the vertical cliff in one bbc program, I don’t remember it’s title…
